Plus there's a place to keep a stylus inside which is a rare feature. It misses the 5 star mark (just barely) because it doesnt have the magnetic auto on/off feature that apple's smart case and a growing number of aftermarket cases have. I don't understand why ALL iPad 2 cases don't have this feature since it would only add 20 cents to the manufacturing cost (to put a small magnet under the inside flap). Also, I can't line the camera lens up just right with the opening as not to have a shadow visible in the upper left corner of videos I shoot if I don't first remove the iPad from the case. Not a huge deal since I really can't see myself whipping out the iPad instead of the iPhone for a video shoot, but its an annoyance all the same. So what's great about this case you ask? 1. Looks like one, too, pretty much. I'm old and stupid, so I distrust that clever, Ikea-looking fold-back cover that Apple wants to sell us; it feels insubstantial and untrustworthy. Now, though, this Targus Truss cover gives the impression it might actually cushion the iPad during a fall -- or a trip -- or a punch from someone who hates iPads. This Targus thing stands firm, doesn't slide around, doesn't spring from your grasp, doesn't fall over. The iPad 2 thingie fits into the Targus Truss thingie quite snugly; isn't going to slip out. (Easy to remove it, though, when you want to remove it.) Brothers and sisters, if you have been hunting around Amazon comparing various iPad 2 covers, you might notice elsewhere that many people complain they bought a cover from some other company, and their cover smells like kerosene or fingernail polish. It does add some bulk but I still think it's worth it. I carry my iPad with me as I commute to work everyday and I don't feel worried that I am carrying a delicate device. I Feel confident it is well protected. I also love that I can position it comfortably on my lap and watch movies while sitting on a train. |
