Since the IPad is popular for being sleek and light, we were very concerned based on other feedback that it would be way too heavy for the IPad. The OBDefender did add a little weight, but the weight to us is better. It makes the $600 IPad feel like it won't just snap in half. We know that the Ipad is supposed to be durable, but you can't help carrying it around gingerly so that you don't hurt the dainty little thing. Also the case feels great to hold, we can sit anywhere and use it. We no longer worry about our 6 year old carrying it around and potentially dropping it. I verified with the actual otterbox website that this model will fit the iPad2. And otterbox said it was good for use on an iPad2. However, I was very disappointed to see that it does not. The iPad itself fits very well but the head phone port, on/off switch and volume button and mute button do not line up with the case. These buttons and switches are recessed farther into the case than the rubber skin can reach to adjust them. There also is not a hole in the back of the case for the rear camera. It is still a great product. Now they can take that iPad with them anywhere they go, and use it in the car when we go somewhere. The cost of the 3 iPads was similar to what a DVD system would have cost, but individually... they're kind of an expensive toy that you're entrusting to a child. That means that you need something to protect it, and for me I could do no better than the Otterbox Defender series. Buying through Amazon saved me almost 50%, and I was able to get 3 different colors so the kids could always tell which iPad was theirs. It goes on easily and really protects the device.
